Welcome to Kamloops Bullshit webpage, I started this site in the summer of 2008 after lobbying and interviewing governments for several years before, (both city and provincial) as to their practices and effectives in their service to citizens and the environment. Yet at every turn and attempt I was met with exscuse's and ignorance, I found a form of corporate dictatorship as corporations were the ones that had their needs met, dictating to the governments what was going to be put in the environment and where the tax dollars would be spent. Evidence was at every public meeting; government agents defended corporation and met their demands.
You see, my son was born in1998, 99% healthy with the exception of allergies, asthma and eczema, so since then I have been reading food labels, watching air quality and researching causes of out breaks. I shocks me to learned that in the last 20 years the number of children being born with health problems has sky rocketed, such as asthma; 1 in 8 children in BC is born with similar symptoms....I inquired at the time and found 1 in 5 @ his school on the Northshore suffering. Imagine not being able to breath, as a parent, helpless as they gasp for air.
Well this woke the hell raiser in me up and all hell has broken loose since then....the deeper I get in politics the more shocking the bullshit. It wasn't just the air quality and the food additives, but the waste of tax dollars, the pollution spewed with out regard or common sense, increase of fee's and taxes, and the move ever so closer to a "police state" of government on all levels. It's what these bureaucrats are capable of getting away with, the power they wield without accountability. Every level of government is guilty, It is out of necessity, because of our children getting sick, of our seniors who can't afford taxes, of growing laws against us, that we the people challenge government on all levels to be accountable to all citizens health, welfare, sustainability and affordability of life, liberty, and freedom as guaranteed by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Nobody seems to care, not the media (bought and bribed), not the government agencies such as Ministry of Environment or Interior Health who are suppose to be protecting citizens, nor the citizens themselves because 99% of us have our noses kept to the grindstone, paying bills and taxes, raising family. To many of us take for granted government is capable of looking out for our best interests, I too was guilty till my sons sickness forced me to wake up. In truth it is hard to see, we are cash cows, sheep to be herded and kept in line, they say what we don't know won't hurt us....and by incrementally increasing the control with bylaws, regulations, taxes, levies and fee's the majority of citizens have little choice but to be herded with the others, to take the path of least resistance....many of us can do little more than keep food on the table and heating bill paid. Cost of living has grown off the scale, out of reach for more and more each day. Still others are only concerned with "me and mine" funny how history repeats its self......
First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out--

First they ignored poor/homeless/drug addicted so they have no choice but a life of destitute, drugs and crime,
yet I did not speak out--
because I was not poor or homeless or on drugs, and I "think" of them as just lazy anyway;
Then they ignored the youth, made serves for all recreational activities so youth grow up in front of a TV full of sex, drugs, and violence while society wonders why we have kids on drugs, in gangs and its not safe to walk the streets,
yet I did not speak out--
because I was not a a youth of today nor a victim of crime;
Then they increased taxes and created user fees, wasted millions on TCC, communities in blooms, and VentureKamloops, millions each year on art galleries yet refused to spend a measly $80 000 on drug treatment beds,
yet I did not speak out--
because I had a job and was to busy to protest or show up to public meetings to have my voice heard;
Then they created more and more laws, doubled fines for minor infractions with a zero tolerance attitude,
but I did not speak out--
because I was not a criminal;
Then my neighbor or passer by ratted me out for making noise, water on the wrong day, putting the garbage out to early, idling my vehicle, my dog setting one foot out of my property line,not sorting recyclables properly, water hitting the sidewalk, having a back yard fire, having chickens, picking my nose in public, not putting the toilette seat up,
so then they came for me--
and there was "nothing that could be done" according to the judge, because politicians and bureaucrats are dictated to by corporations and the wealthy bastards who own them!
Some may think these words or the man who wrote them is being a little extreme. Though if one were to add up the facts and considers the plight of society and environment threw out the world, one would find these words are actually an understatement. Consider the condition of society; drugs, crime, poverty, capitalism...locally notice how few show up to public meetings, forums, council chambers, protests, and even to vote.
The end result is a ripple effect as people ignore provincial, federal and the worlds problems creating a feeling of helpless confusion, resulting in apathy mesmerized by overindulgence of corporate synthesized products....or in a nut shell; BRAIN WASHED!
Apathy as a natural mathematical equation: peoples vote + government betrayal = Apathy
Jan 2011 UPDATE and REVIEW of 2010:
2010 was a year of rebirth, rejuvenation and celebration of freedom as the truth of tyranny has been revealed. Though much the same as previous years, tyranny did continue to rained; bureaucrats and diplomats dominated society in usual tyrannical fashion, locally last year as in each year; new laws, new demands, new taxes, bigger fines equate to growing tyranny.
Evidence of that same old tyranny was demonstrated by bylaws kidnapping Abby the dog in the wee hours of the morning as she went out for her early morning pee....not once, but twice, though no complaint was lodged against Abby, no victims just the strong arm of the so called "law". Still more evidence was the child who had his skate board confiscated by bylaw and then his family was fined $500 for making a political statement under protest; again city bylaws bringing down the strong arm of the "law" of zero tolerance.
Time and time again the people of Kamloops were bullied with large fines of up to $500 for something so trivial as a a dog off leash or littering, this brothers and sisters, is self evidence of a growing police state complex that seems to grow with each year as it does with many new so called "laws" that as it turns out are not law: they are codes and statutes: essentially contract law; and as such require consent of both parties, and must give full disclosure; such as listing all right and freedoms given up by entering into said contract; this is just some of the truth I have learned, not through my own want, but through necessity; out of need because of the growing harshness of these things they call "law" that put pressures upon otherwise peaceful, lawful men and women. This my brothers and sisters is the truth, this and much more, as I have said 2010 was a year of rebirth.
Keep an open heart and mind as you read; each of us can and should experience the truth, these are facts that each of us should experience for yourselves, recognize your reflection is yours as a free individual with a brain, as such don't let news reports, TV addictions, sports worship, your biased praise, disgust or discontent for me, or anybody dominate your being (tear everything else away, each of us is; a being), those items are pacifiers...are you a child so much you can't think for yourselves, you would allow any of those things to cloud your judgment? "judge not lest ye be judged" ...I stand before you; willing to be judged, are you?
we all enjoy those things, recognize there is a time to be pacified and a time for crying out against tyranny.
Without even realizing it, so many of us allow others to think for us, though its not our fault, we have been conditioned into excepting what is told to us from the day we born, the environment influences the finished product as it is fashioned from the environment within, thus "they" have produced an environment that produces what "they" want. A product that suits their needs, not ours. Be patient we will get to who "they" are in good time, for the moment humor me. The main thing is from this moment on don't allow others to think for you, (of course that includes me) take this and any information for what it is; information; fact.

First step in your rebirth is to recognize that we are manipulated into capitalism and materialism in the constant strive to be happy as corporate society defines happiness: a big screen TV with 500 channels diet coke and pizza; recognize it pacifies and redirects our minds away from the problems.
Honor: primitive guiding principle

Where is the honor in today's society? Society is defined by its erosion of honor day by day; crimes rampant, homeless numbers grow, broken dysfunctional families, drugs and gangs dominate the streets so much so its not safe to walk the streets in Kamloops: seems every week someone is assaulted, robed, stabbed, or murdered in Kamloops, subsequently each year the crimes get worse, though RCMP pacified the public with excuses and comparisons to other communities problems only because they themselves are at a loss as crimes develop in our region into US style. RCMP pride themselves on car thefts, seat belt infractions and petty crime rates dropping, trying to convince the people we live in a great society as the strong arm of the law ensures our safety....every thing RCMP do is in the name of safety, though day by day the streets of Kamloops grow less and less safe, because here in reality, local crime has shifted to more serious assaults as result of society eroding; graduating to the next level of criminals; graduate into a more serious states of dysfunctional (stealing cars and break-ins are done by individuals, those individuals enter gangs, graduating to more serious crimes). Though each day the propaganda preaches success and prosperity, the reality is all to real, it's plain for any to see
Recognize that crime it's self is a beast; what feeds the beast is contempt, contempt of poverty, dysfunctional families, contempt of honor as the basis of society when they replaced honor with "law" it created a beast known as organized crime; Ying can not exist with out Yang. Every day they create new laws, consider if there is a law there must be breech of that law or it would be worth making , more laws more breeches. Crime is nothing more than a beast of cause and effect, gangs are a result as the crimes progress in seriousness in Kamloops is a result of the environment created (either out of ignorance or in contempt), in our society...and who controls our society for the past hundred years?? The government, directing the RCMP, and municipalities, as the saying goes; " da chickens dun cum home to roost" So is the answer more laws, even stricter laws?
In BC there is one thing that draws crime, we are world renowned for it, and I heard some one describe it as our billion dollar a year business. Alberta has their billion dollar a year business: oil, whereas BC has a billion dollar business as well, only thing different is, our's is illegal and the billion dollars a year goes to the gangs and organized crime. This is why we see gang wars in BC, in Kamloops, though the RCMP's main goal seems to be stopping seat belt and speeding infractions?? Meanwhile families across BC and Canada are falling victim to US style of crimes, drugs, weapons, family members killing family members, neighbors killing neighbors, children going missing in the night, shoot outs in the streets, people going missing...this is the natural progression of the society they have created with their "laws" The natural progression of crime as a result of not legalizing pot; pot is what draws the gangs, assimilation of US gangs as a result of the "war on drugs" and the criminals out of necessity needing to evolve to assimilate into the system...we can thank the USA for that and Harpers assimilation of US policies (war on drugs and terrorism)...essentially the war on drugs is a lost battle; the self evidence is obvious in the growing seriousness of the crimes in every community in Canada....truth be known the war on drugs is set up to fail by the elite to induce more stricter control over the people.
It's growing more apparent that this erosion of honor was done on purpose because when we act in dishonor it gives them power to police you..."they" have transformed the honor system into the law system. you see, honor requires people to think for themselves, "they" don't want us thinking for ourselves, so they converted it to a system of codes and statutes that are not exactly laws, but only fool people into consenting to them being laws through deception and lack of disclosure. sure there was a time when we accepted the codes as law, but not any more as we see the flaws, the damage it is doing. We now have a society that no longer thinks for its self, distinguishes right from wrong, instead we now rely on codes and statutes to tells what's rights and wrong.
It has gotten so bad that people can't even cross a street in honor; people cross slowly, selfishly, with out looking, taking for granted the law will protect them. The laws are powerful, but not powerful enough to protect you from a 2000lb car, indeed each year many people in Kamloops are killed or seriously injured because no one has taught them how to cross a street using honor....you see in honor it is customary to look people in the eyes and to act accordingly...such as crossing the street requires; to make eye contact, to look at the needs of both yourself and the driver, (waiving the driver on so he doesn't have to stop if their is only one car) and hustle your ass quickly to cross the street as quickly as possible. Consider weather conditions; check to see if its safe for the driver to stop, most importantly is to make eye contact with each driver as you pass to make sure they are paying attention...we take for granted the law that says a car must stop, or that the cross walk says I can walk...its sad to see the memorials around the city, I think of the life lost because they took for granted the law would protect them, if only we went back to a honor system where we were taught to be responsible for ourselves under the code of honor many of these accidents wouldn't happen. believe it or not (most of you will refuse to believe)the honor system did rule not long ago, it was called "Natural Law": legal description; "Common Law"
Cause and Effect; no honor with in the system equates to no honor in society; how can we expect individuals to act in honor if the system and people within the system are not honorable in their actions? Honor exists today only in certain individuals who have experienced honor. Today's norm is to rely on codes and statutes to dictate our actions, very few people recognize the propaganda and think for themselves simply because up until recently it wasn't a necessity. However there are many of us who still recognize honor, and it is through honorable action that we can create that environment that is healthy and true to what is right and will lead to solving the many of the problems and challenges we face.
The problem lies in the unbalanced of power of those who are honorable compared to those who have little or no honor, yielding to profit or corporate responsibility instead of the duty each of us has to humanity. It seems many of us have been swayed by outside pressures and influences, greed...again it is not our fault as we have been conditioned into conforming and accepting "their" wishes...simply take measure of each of our existences, ask ourselves the tough question that need to be asked; am I an asset or a detriment to my community, to the environment, to the future, to my family?
SUSTAINABLE: "the capacity to endure
A word we hear almost every day now, a favorite of government agencies, and until a friend pointed it out to me, a word seemingly innocent....that is until one realizes the significance of the word sustainable and how its being used in today's political environment. Sustainable has been adopted as the poster child of politicians and bureaucrats as an exscuse to force their policies and regulations in Canada and most of the world thanks to the United Nations, who spawned Agenda 21, Kamloops being no exception, indeed the word "sustainable" is used as the leading force of local authority. When I hear that word used by politicians and bureaucrats it sends as shiver down my back because I recognize its as part of the deception.
Every time we hear government use the word "sustainable" try to ask them these questions?
Is the growing demands on the foodbanks sustainable?
Is the growing costs of housing(rent/mortgage, taxes, insurance, heat electricity, up keep) sustainable?
Are the new drinking/driving, cell phone, over 40K laws along with the growing tyranny sustainable in society?
Is the manifestation of criminal activity into US/Mexico style of gangs and guns sustainable for a safe community?
Is the growing costs of food sustainable for average families?
Is the deforestation, dyeing oceans and pollution spewed into the environment sustainable and healthy for future generations?
Is the current political mayhem and unaccountability sustainable even for our generation???
These are the questions we need to ask ourselves, ask of our politicians and bureaucrats to determine what action needs to be taken; obviously the actions they have been taking in the last 100 years are not the right ones.

Recently in Kamloops this holiday season a young driver with a N was the only attendant of a Christmas party who did not have a single sip of alcohol, many attendees had one or two drinks over the evening at the party, (most likely fine to drive but knew road checks were out and a zero tolerance to drinking was being enforced.) Thus this individual proceeded to make trips with four others, then returning to the party to give rides to the others who feared driving. Upon leaving the area they quickly ran into a RCMP roadcheck, having a N on the graduating licensing the individual is only by "law" allowed to have one other passenger. Explaining to the officer that she was the only one who did not have even one sip of alcohol, the taxis were over run because of new strict laws scaring people not to risk losing the right to drive, and as a result was the only means for anyone to get home, so as such was driving the entire party home, even though she was by "law" not suppose to have anymore than one passenger. The officer at the time understood the significance and waved them through. Upon returning to get more party goers home, once again having to go through the RCMP road check, this time two different officers were attending, not knowing the circumstances, took one look at the N on the back of the car, and counting the heads in the car, stopped the car and without consideration at all for the circumstances gave a smart remark of "your record is screwed now" knowing that the slightest infraction under the code requires suspension of new drivers license who are under strict probation to follow the "law". The insensitivity of the officers was defended by the supervisors who stated "insurance requires, if they had gotten into an accident we're liable" ...you see no commonsense, no honor, two people had to get out and walk home in the middle of winter, maybe even drunk, who would be liable if a drunk fell in a ditch and froze to death after being forced to walk home?

All the issues coming to a head, along with some issues this summer of RCMP intimidating and assaulting me and my family has lead to the questioning of mans dignity; these are the actions that I am in the process of making. Let it be known to alI, I am a peacefully man, only wanting the ability to exist in peace, to provide for my family and I, and perhaps make my community a better place.
However we have a government system that was put in place by the people for the people that has become an out of control beast that has turned on the people. It is out of necessity that we the people must take appropriate action to reclaim the authority from the de facto system of Oligarchy. That action MUST be peaceful and lawful, up till now it was thought impossible as many has tried large protest and even legal action through the de facto courts, only to have politicians and bureaucrats insult the people with yet more codes, acts, and statutes to hide information of accountability of political/personal decisions (BC rail scandal) as well environment impact information (such as PG airquality) key to the publics safety and well being.
The de facto government system introduced several new statutes (they call laws) without the peoples consent, up until now most of us were willing to put up with their highway robbery and enforcement tactics. Until recently they grow so extreme they resemble that of a communist dictatorship.
On November 4th 2010 I was on my way to pick up my employee after loading up at the shop with the days materials, traveling at a medium rate of speed over the Overlander bridge on a clear warm day, not a soul insight, I was stopped by some one claiming to a peace officer who then demand I allow him to seize my person form of transportation and stop me from providing for me my family, my clients and my debtors. I refused to give up my truck and said I would except the tickets, I asked for identification though was denied, I refused contract, he threatened me with assault and imprisonment, so I called 911 and demand to get proper authorities as I was about to be assaulted, two more people showed up, one of them a so called supervisor starting beating on my window as I sat sieged; my doors locked and windows up. it was at that point that I peacefully surrendered, was arrested, eventually forced under duress to sign to secure my release.
I had to sign two things, a promise to appear, and a promise to report to a probation officer who then made me report every two weeks or else face prison for up to two years. I applied to a judge to have the charges thrown out, on December 23rd 2010 I had an audience with a judge. For those of you newbies there is a certain procedure that is followed in relation to knowing your rights and claiming authority. The first secret is this whole law system they have bamboozled us people into is admiralty law , more importantly its all an act; ever notice all court rooms are wood from top to toe, usually with a steal railing between the public and court.....believe it or not, this simulates a ship, thus admiralty law, or law of the sea, we have all been registered as cargo, (birth certificate) with a fake or "strawman" name that is a twin to your real name,( how they force contract)...don't believe me? don't take my word for it, look at any bill, identification or mail from government; its in all capital letters. The truth is when you answer to the name they call, you are consenting to contract and their authority, also by entering or crossing the "bar" you are in the jurisdiction of the "captain" or judge...and we all know from the legend of Bounty how strict sea captains can be.
Though there is a bright side to all this; a movement that can be described only as a Renaissance De Homonus Dignitate which is the question of mans dignity claimed by freemen claiming natural rights to be governed by ways of old, (as long as we are acting in honor) we have certain rights guaranteed to us by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, such as Canada was founded on the basis of God as the superior, with no higher authority, as such we are gods children, created equal, and as such are considered little gods, (sovereigns) with no higher authority on earth than the people, governed by the natural laws of the land: Common law.
Governments and law enforcement's work from commercial law, always monetary attached to the action, admiralty law: codes and statutes that only have the force of law through legal contract...a contract has to have consent, and full disclosure such as rights given up when contracting....we the people draw the line when these codes, acts, and statutes get so demanding that they punish people so harshly for non victim demeanors to a point it rips the fabric of life from us, the fabric of a healthy community apart, families suffer...children suffer...for what, because daddy had two beers after work?
The result is for the past ten-twenty years people have been fighting back, (in fact it is our duty to stand up when we sea a wrong being perpetrated by our government) not taking this bullshit any more through a number of ways. One is claiming back our sovereignty from what I learned is a de facto government that is in power through usurpation of our supposedly inalienable rights through the color of law, like I said, the deeper one gets in politics, the more BS reveals to be the foundation. Many people are disassociating themselves with the government, and all commercial corporations that are disemboweling society; such as banks and big chain stores selling low grade crap.
Other people are living within the commercial laws, using the defacto government's own laws against them, there are sections of codes, acts, and statutes that regulate the government employee's, as they all swore an oath to abide by under penalty if breached. Many government employees act in what is called "tort" though few have been held accountable, this is what I am working to change as I filed a counter claim against the arresting officers who breached their jurisdiction and caused harm to me by denying me my rights resulting in a loss of liberty.
We are witnessing the middle east overthrowing their defacto government as a result of the tyranny and ignorance of government. It all started with one man who was unjustly kept from providing for his family. Mohammed Bouazizi, a 26 year old man trying to support his family by selling fruits and vegetables in the central town of Sidi Bouzid in Tunisian, douses himself in paint thinner and sets himself on fire in front of a local municipal office. The result is the overthrow of half a dozen defacto governments. Libya is in progress right now, who will be next is anyone's guess. Like a house of cards the middle east dictatorships and Oligarchy governments are being exiled. There is even talk of United States over throwing their government in a peaceful protest similar to the one in Egypt, Much of the US is in a bankrupt state, not able to pay government employees, food prices and cost of living going through the roof, sinking deep and deep in debt.

The world is swiftly changing before our eyes, gas locally shot up 15 cents yesterday (Feb22/11) food is said to have jumped 30% overnight in many parts of the world. The next few years will bring about enormous challenges aswell as enormous change in our lives.
The previous three years witnessed hardships as foodbank dependency has soared, bankruptcy and foreclosure has shot up, debt has grown so big in average households that many people are one paycheck away from total disaster.
The Air We Breathe:
You've all heard that saying, "you are what you eat", well it is equally true for what you breathe as well. Of those of us who have been around for at least a few decades, we remember bright blue sky's as children, today I have had to make it a habit to watch the sky and air because I have to watch for my son not to have a major asthma attack. Besides having to watch local pollution, I have taken to watching through media, pollution coverage all over the world. One thing is common, no more blue sky's, instead it has been replaced by gray soup. Air that use to be clear and clean is now blue and chokes at your lungs...some people can't breath hardly at all, increasingly more infants now born not able to breath. What effect does this have on all living things within the environment that forced to breathe toxins?
However to the unsuspecting people it is considered normal because it has been incrementally getting worse, blue sky slowly fading, giving way to gray, for so many years now...first the odd day, then the odd week, then seasonal, now 24/7/365. Kamloops particularly has gotten so bad, that often you can smell and even taste the pollution, so thick it often fills up whole valleys, or blocks out mountains on the horizon. Air is blue and gray for the majority of the year, yet the wise guys at Interior Health rely on one machine located deep in a valley bottom. One Machine to tell them on a scale of 1 to 10 how bad it thinks the air is in that specific location. The machine and technology is so out dated it may as well came from the stone age as it only measures particulates 2.5 to .10 (may as well be measuring golf balls for all the good it does), while the rest of the world measures .025, (1/4) similar to you going to a grocery store to purchase 1lb of produce, but the scale measured in tons, or the police who were meant to protect us, only protected us from shop lifters while ignoring the murders, and rapists.
Hear In Kamloops Mayor and council has been vigilant against individual private citizens, banning all back yard fires with out any referendum, banning smoking in public places such as buss stops and parks,banned out door wood or pellet boilers with out instigating emission standards, and looked several times at banning woodstoves for residential use regardless of how many people can't afford corporate costs of heating their homes. Then the ignorant bastards grant corporation after corporation rights to pollute based on some bullshit the MOE call "best available technology" which means nothing....if one pollutes they all get to pollute so they use this as their exscuse.
In the last couple of months mayor and council approved Domtars application to extend its permit to pollute much more in the future, allowing them to spew even more in the low lying areas for the next five years minimum....and in a couple of years, Domtar will ask for another extension...currently they are on their third extension in the last 10 years.
Mayor and council also approved another corporation, Firemaster, to build a pellet mill in the east part of Kamloops, the questioning of locating another mill close to city center was not their concern as promises were made by Ralph "the Mouth" Adams from Ministry of Environment Morons.
They were about to approve another corporation, a corporation that intends to incinerate railway ties in the center of the city. If not for the foresight of a local grassroots activist group who paid to have a professor come to town, along with 150 protestors, were able to convince council to NOT approve the incinerator. Professor Paul Connett from NewYork, who has some experience and knows the facts of railway tie incinerators did a presentation to council, educating them in the science of nano toxin, the poisons that you can't see.
HOW I LOST MY FAITH IN MOE:
You may think of me as being to harsh on poor Ralphy boy and MOE...at first glance it would appear, I use to give them the benefit of doubt too....until I had a meeting with Ralph. He enlighten me on the ins and outs of MOE and the legal accountability of MOE and the corporations they govern. Every thing they do, they look at it from a legal point...if they can get away with something they will until some one stops them or changes are made to the legal system...like a court battle over throwing them. He gave me an example, the mill fire that happened on the Indian reserve back in 07, the owner was found by a court to be liable and was fined a measly $50 000. ( I say measly $50 000 because private citizens can face $100 000) The thing was that the person who owned the corporation did not have to pay the fine and still has not to this day, apparently he can change his corporation name and continue to operate some where else in BC, practically with MOE's blessing. " we can't force them" says Ralphy.
I asked him how MOE lets corporations pollute to which his reply was "best available technology, they have the right, if one company is allowed to pollute we have to let them all pollute. We don't have the mandate or enough agents to police them all so we don't even bother unless there are complaints". To which my jaw dropped and my emotions started to loose faith, how can a government agency that citizens put faith in to protect us be so FUBAR ??
My meeting with Ralph and MOE was back in 07 when I was doing research for "airburners", machines that burns waste wood five times faster than slash burning with out any smoke or particulates. This was also when pine beetle was overwhelming the forests around the city, city union was slash burning to beat crazy making the air thick with blue smoke. I later did a presentation to mayor and council to try and get the city to clean up the air quality as we had to make several trips to emergency that year due to asthma attacks. Parks and rec director McDorckle insisted we couldn't afford to clean up the air. I was looking for backing on the technology from the MOE, ( that was the main reason for my meeting with Ralph) but to my surprise Ralph was totally against the machines...my jaw dropped a second time, (I'm surprised I didn't fracture my jaw)...how could the heads of MOE in charge of our region not support the technology of a machine that cold burn wood much faster with zero emissions??? ...and this is how I lost my faith in MOE :(
I then scheduled a meeting with Interior Health head honcho, Ken Christian, to see what Interior Health 's view was.
I asked him what Interior Health is responsible for, to which his reply was all the food out lets, grocery stores, venues, air and water quality, hospital and seniors housing, commercial discharge into both air and water....the list seem to go on and on. Interior Health's regional office located in Kamloops is responsible for the whole Thompson valley region, the scary thing is there is only something like 100 inspectors including himself, and he sits on his ass most of the time in the office doing double duty collecting two pay checks as a school trustee.
I was getting the impression that the Provincial government is spending as little as possible on Interior Health, for instance the building its self is a portable trailer, located behind some buildings with paid parking. MOE is the opposite, they have an apartment size beautiful building with 50 parking spaces. It crossed my mind that the government needs MOE to push through corporate business deals for the politicians....come to think of it, MOE has been defending corporations at every public meeting.
I am starting to wonder about Interior Health being on the side of the corporations too, recently they supported a unproven railway tie incinerator from a corporation. There's a major concern, evidence shows nano toxins, (poison) will be released into the air. “Overall it’s a relatively small discharge,” Christian said. However Christian himself, nor the IHA haven't any experts to base their claims on...only speculation....they "think" every thing will be fine.
One of the alarms raised by Professor Connett, an environmental chemistry professor expert from New York State, was potential for dioxins and furans, long lasting, cancer-causing residuals that he said will be created through gasification of creosote soaked ties. Professor Connett gave overwhelming evidence and facts of railway tie incinerators emitting dioxins, nano toxins so small current MOE doesn't measure them. the smallest MOE measures is .10...nano toxins are .025 and smaller going straight into the blood stream of every living thing that breaths...including the plants and animals we consume.
Fact is railway ties should not be incinerated ANY WHERE on the face of the planet! The best thing to do with them is burry them in a dry desert where no moisture can penetrate it causing toxins to leach into the water table or soil base.
Railway ties coated in creosote should not be used any more period!...however they use them because they are cheep and it creates an economy in the forest industry...cement ties are used in many parts of the world and last ten times as long.
How ever MOE and IHA ignored professor Connett and the evidence, and as a result will allow a corporation to gasify several hundred thousand railway ties a year, even though one railway tie has enough poison in it to kill you.
The plain truth is our air is already over taxed with pollution, just look at the video below, this is without the pellet plant going in next spring, and obviously with out the railway incinerator as it was just approved and will also be up and running in the near future.
2010 Review: it was an interesting year as we the people battled off ACC corporation who was given full permission to grind and incinerate thousands of toxic contaminated railway ties. However grass roots organizers demanded a public meeting with the developer by holding a protest in front of city hall, and marching down to our useless MLA Terry Lake's office and threatening to toss him out on his ars if he didn't get us a public meeting; originally ACC and the government tried to get away with not having a public meeting; they were hoping to sneak the incinerator into Kamloops the way they do so many other polluters into Kamloops in a effort to boost economy numbers. So the people got their meeting; ACC owner, a flunky from Europe that is paid to paint toxic incinerators as clean and green, and defending them both is MOE Ralph "the mouth" Adams, a man collecting a paycheck paid by the taxpayer is defending the science with the quote " duh...it will pollute less than one woodstove" ONE WOODSTOVE????
As a certified woodstove salesman let me tell you the emissions of one woodstove is regulated to no more than 8grams per hour of particulate, most models today when used properly produce as little as 1-2grms hr, though advertised at 4grms hr...that includes the start up; the only time woodstoves smoke is on start up and reload. Low emissions are a result of reburn technology....compared to 100 000 000 railway ties; produce nothing but particulate when they are grinded. Then as they are burnt; the particulate on start up is measured in tons, not grams, that's not even considering the nano toxins that are released as vapor (no weight). Residentail use is limited to 3-4 months a year, whereas corporation pullution if year round.
Though the people were so pissed off that all the kings men couldn't convince the people toxic crap was good for Kamloops, as a result the owner turned tail as the people demanded, but not before grinding 100 000 or so railway ties under a permit mayor Milobar insisted he knew nothing about.
The sad thing is ACC was aloud to keep it permit and transfer it down the valley, move to a low key place, bribe some bureacrats to tell their people its a Gold mine when in reality; railway ties are cancer and disease weighting to happen and its a sell out for a few bucks :(
WEIGHING IN ON WATER METERS:
Regardless of a past referendum rejecting water meters, Mayor Milobar, (like a well trained lap dog of previous mayor Terry Lake) and councilor cohorts have taken upon themselves to personally demand water meters be installed on the basis it might save money in the long run and government might pay for some. I intend to find out the details of this issue.
Who pays for the meters??? ....The tax payers in some form or another. This is essentially the biggest problem, in a perfect world money is no object, but hear in reality Kamloopsians have been hit with tax after tax, and fee after fee, now we have to pay for the parts and labor and maintenance of water meters installation so they can scare people into using less water. Then as usual a year after the program starts they find out its going to cost more than the geniuses figured and increase the fees and taxes like they did with recycling and TCC crap!
It might be better received if indeed there was a new referendum outlining the benefits and plan of saving money in the long run if indeed it will, but unless the plan is questioned by an opposition and proven to be a good investment with a referendum it amounts to dictatorship tactics.
The other issue no one has mentioned is the meters are going to have radio transmitters transmitting constant radio waves that might not be so healthy. Questions need to be asked before its to late, all to often things look good on paper, (like the recycling program that costs way to much and benefits way to little) only to be expensive disasters.
You see...many of us lowly citizens have a problem with propaganda, bylaws, and infractions of the city's community in blooms and parks and rec get away with while threatening senior citizens on fixed incomes.
The city's propaganda is that every person in the city of Kamloops between the ages of 1 to 100 uses 2200 liters of water per person. That is what it said on channel 10 for years...I don't remember it ever stating "the peak one day maximum" but David Duckworth swears it was only 2200L peak day...but still it is no where near that number...even for just one day.
I call bullshit...fact: Vancouver uses an average 350L per person
....fact: if the city can prove that every person uses 2200L a day ...I will donate e $500 to the foodbank.
....fact: the city of kamloops wastes millions of liters a day on frivolous flowers to impress themselves...
all a while breaking their own strict bylaws pumping thousands of liters of water each day onto sidewalks.
Why is it senior citizens and taxpayers in general on numerous occasions received expensive fines from city bylaws with out even a warning, yet the city itself, practically every day, waters streets yet doesn't get in trouble?
Why is it insignificant grass needs to be watered at all???...Vancouver doesn't water their boulevards...they couldn't afford too...just like we can't afford to, yet bragging rights for communities in bloom is priceless isn't it :)

If we were all rich, I personally wouldn't have a problem with communities in bloom wasting thousands of dollars each year, millions over the years on a silly pissing competition....if it weren't for all the social problems in our city.
Obviously a nice looking city is beneficial, but the scale and detail of flowers and heavily watered boulevards is ridiculous. There are plenty of ways to save money and resources simply by not watering the hell out of hundreds of green boulevards around the city, this alone could save millions of liters of water and millions of dollars in tax payers money making a "make work project" out of every boulevard installing underground sprinklers, and cutting the grass every week! There is nothing wrong with the natural landscape of Kamloops, sage and drout resistant tall grass, or natural plants that live in our area that don't require constant up keep and tons of water are just as attractive.
Other ways of making the city pretty with out all the union make work projects is to encourage seniors and other volunteers and agencies to adopt certain areas. There are plenty of people with time and nothing to do or a place to do it. Its great exercise physical and mentally, and instills pride in individuals as well as the city
Everyday the strain on the foodbank grows, more and more people are homeless, kids go to school hungry and can't afford fancy sporting programs Tournament Capital has to offer. Have you ever gone hungry?? Not been able to pay rent and heating bills? If you have experienced these problems chances are you don't have much use for fancy flowers and green grass where not a soul walks.
The only successful private drug rehabilitation provider, had its funding cut . The New Life Mission does a great job helping those who no one else seems to want to help. The heartless Liberal government, (including kamloops exmayor Terry Lake) cut a lousy $80 000 to put hundreds of addicts back into the insanity on the streets, basically feeding them to the lions. How is it they can spend millions on Olympic tickets for themselves? The city could have, (and would have if I was Mayor) step forward and taken over responsibility. The City spends more than that on communities in bloom every year.
Next person who gets robbed can thank your MLA's, the next business that gets broken into at 2 am, and the people who get your car or ATV stolen can thank the narrow minded assholes who are in power. These people are to stupid to figure out that it cost $250 000 per drug addict at least in police, insurance, court costs, victim pain and suffering, paper work, and housing them in jail....not to mention the criminal is still a fricken criminal who could have been rehabilitated and been a tax paying contributor to society and most importantly.... TO HIMSELF!

Communities In Bloom BS....
The problem with Communities In Bloom are two fold, first off the resources and time spent is astronomical...if you think about it, its not just the hundreds of thousands spent on Communities in Bloom each year, but the $$$ maintaining the miles of green boulevards in man power and precious water....the water alone is millions maybe even billions of liters each year...the pumping cost alone is a small fortune not to mention the waste of water, the underground water sprinklers is another small fortune, then there's the flower arrangements the size of semi trucks which cost another fortune....society has its priorities backwards.
The second problem that is irritating and ignorant beyond comprehension is the buracrats ignore ValleyView and Dallas, the entrance to the city is a derelict embarrassment, the bushes and weeds overgrow the boulevards....obviously the city is only trying to impress the judges as the only areas that get flowers and primping is the rout from the airport to city hall and up Columbia ST...maybe to MacArthur park too as the city shows off the TCCCrap. Is it to much to ask to cut the brush back and mow the weeds down a couple times a year???
Weighing in on Water Use In Kamloops

Those of us who have been a citizen and taxpayer of Kamloops for many years have a vested interest in what goes on at city hall as it effects us all. Channel 10 has been somewhat of a tool for informing citizens on the goings on at city hall and the rest of Kamloops. However the city also uses channel 10 to threaten and spread propaganda while limiting the useful information, reducing council meeting broadcasts.
I watched the propaganda as the city for years repeatedly stating we, as citizens should be ashamed of ourselves for using 2200L of water per day, per person during summer months. Then they come up with the “Zero Tolerance” for water infractions, handing out hefty fines to unsuspecting seniors and citizens alike, all a while the city themselves sprinkle water on boulevard sidewalks and roads all around the city.
I really wonder if the zero tolerance bylaw is retaliation for us citizens voting down water meters a few years back. I have been attending quite a few council meetings in the last couple of years trying to get involved in the city, a few years back during a break, two councilors were talking about holding another referendum for water meters, I couldn’t resist, I blurted out “ how many times are we citizens going to have to vote down water meters”, to which the reply was, “as many times as it takes to get meters in”. This year Peter Piper in true dictator fashion along with council are not even holding a referendum, rather simply with the swipe of his pen, Peter has set in motion the path to water meters.
I am a man of convictions, I need to see proof nine different ways to confirm something as fact, obviously any fool could see the numbers don’t add up, I knew 2200L a day was far off base, so I went to city council to challenge the city to prove the numbers and also get information on the water meters the city is forcing on taxpayers. I stood before council and offered to donate $500 to the food bank if they could prove the 2200L number. Peter directed me to David Duckworth for the information that I requested.
So I fired off a number of questions via email and a month later I was invited to a sit down with David Duckworth, and Tom Marstad, who are at the top of the cities water works. I have to admit Tom, (the guy that did all the leg work) did a great job answering my questions and providing the information that was requested.
I had heard through the grape vine that our brand new water treatment plant was built way to small, this is the main reason the city is forcing water meters on the citizens, to try and scare people into using less water, creating anxiety, blaming the long time residents for wasting water, when in fact the problem is mainly one of expansion. Yes the dummies in their lack of wisdom made the treatment plant way to small, forgetting to allow for expansion. These professionals spending millions on planning alone manipulated the numbers in order to make it look like the total cost is going to be much less. If the true price of the treatment plant was quoted 80 or 100 million making it the proper size, instead of downsizing to 60 million, do you think the city and the banks would have gone for it? Especially when a private firm offered to build us a water treatment plant for 33 million, but God forbid, the union couldn’t let a private company show them up. No, to the union, money is no object so a measly 900 phone calls from union members crying “union only” put a Veto to the private company offer, with the support of then mayor Rothenburger, Gee, thanks for the debt Rothenbergur, this is your legacy.
Expansion is killing us Kamloopsians, like a Olympic athlete on steroids, artificially bulking up for bragging rights, Kamloops is spending millions going around the world bending backwards to attract ”the right kind of people”. Developers are like coaches telling us its ok to bulk up, don’t worry about roads bulking up creating traffic jams, lights on every corner. I asked David, what is the advantage to long term residents of Kamloops rapidly growing and expanding? To which his reply was, “ nothing, I admit expansion and growth does cost long term residents”, a point I was trying to make during the election, yet was like shooting myself in the political head.
One naturally " thinks" Growth is Good, linking it to prosperity such as the buracrats @ city hall would have us believe. However if you apply the "Law of Nature", Growth is a directly linked to "Surplus" and prosperity ONLY comes from surplus. In nature plants and animals prosper only if there is surplus, yet the propaganda of governments link prosperity to debt, the ability of debt, (triple AAA credit rating) and growth based on increasing taxes, (debt)
Back In August after I went before council challenging the 2200L, councilor O’fee promptly wrote an FREE article in the paper on how regardless of the 2200L being right or wrong, Kamloops will need to reduce its water use. He then went on to talk about Penticton’s topography, and comparing water use. I found it quite amusing, hear is a guy who’s profession (lawyer or liar) is to, at any cost, disregard the facts of right or wrong and to present only the facts that are key in him winning. O’fee described how much less Penticton uses per person, usually they compare us to Kelowna but the numbers were better…stretching the truth as far as he could,(bravo O’fee).
However you could right volumes with what O’fee didn’t say, like the fact that both Kelowna and Penticton live beside a large body of water making the humidity much more than Kamloops, as a result of the water and humidity, less water is needed to maintain moisture in the ground as well as more rain fall is recorded in Penticton and Kelowna. Summers are also hotter and dryer in Kamloops contributing to us using more water to maintain the same level of moisture.
I did a little research of my own, one of the first things Kelowna, Penticton and every other city have done is encourage and educate citizens on low flow or double flush toilets. Government grants are available to make them affordable if the city would only apply, and there might even be a discount from certain suppliers, after all volume should help to reduce costs, purchasing 80 000 toilets would be great for the local economy as well. I mentioned this to mayor and council, Peter's response was; "we are not concerned with the over all water use, just peak use" , commenting on the lowest number which was in the winter. Yet how often people go to the washroom and the amount of saving potential, probably more so in the summer as all the fluids need to maintain our body functions grow with the tempature...Milobar and O'fee couldn't comprehend this fact and didn't seem to put the two together.
The other amazing thing is none of the other cities have miles of boulevards planted with grass, and no underground sprinklers, I couldn't believe it....No grass, turns out Kamloops is one of very few who insist on planting grass and then watering the hell out of it. Sure enough, driving through Kelowna, boulevards have drought resistant wild roses planted.
In fact hear are a bunch of ways to reduce water use:
- pumping water for playing fields and boulevards straight from the river
- use drought tolerant grass(my neighbor has grass that only needs cutting once a month)
to bad all those new fields used regular grass, guess they didn't want to put union out of work:(
- 60% of water is lost through evaporation, changing to soaker/drip system should be common sense ...
....:union engineer ...." duh...gee George, dah book did not tell me to think for myself...duhhh"
- giving incentives for removing or reducing grass on properties
- use water crystals that soak up water during high moisture days only to release during dry days.
- water wicking, old fashion tech, basically burry a 45g drum, spring run off fills it up, a wick slowly feeds
- low flow or dual flush toilets can save millions in water and pumping costs
- (councilor Walsh's idea) change to watering once ever three days instead of two.

David did also admit that the 2200L per person was not right, the actual amount for this year was 1730L peak for one day only, as a result the information has been changed to 1800L on the city’s web page, the average in last 5 years.
It boggles the mind why a referendum would not be held again, most people would probably vote for it based on the information I was given. The truth of the mater is they are scared shitless of a "NO" vote, it's their way or the highway!
The other major concern is that these meters will produce a radio frequency every 15 seconds broadcasting the information. The meter could be located on a wall near a bedroom or a direction that saturates a living quarters. There has been studies shown that there is a potential for such health problems as cancer, depression, anxiety and other health problems. How ever there has been no "Legal" case that has been won on these grounds so governments and corporations get away with installing many electronics that produce radio waves in peoples paths.
I did some research in the different meter models available, there is basically three major manufactures, only one of them has the signal on demand, so the service person accesses the information when needed, much more healthier.
This is one issue many of us would have with this particular model David is insisting on using. He said the people with concerns will be able to opt out of the radio frequency model and use a regular meter....I would be one of them.
KXA Conundrum: fiction or nonfiction...you decide
It started a few years back, the process long and behind closed doors, benefiting not the people of Kamloops,
rather a group of politicians on a mission. Terry Lake since being elected mayor back in 06, together with a group of selfserving pricks have been working to "attract the right kind of people", have been making deals behind closed doors with a couple of groups, one being owner of the KXA its self, Kamloops Indian Band.
The systematic disassembly of the heart of the community that beats the life blood through community and the families recreation of all people far and near, for over 100 years that land has been dedicated to gathering of community events, yet with the swipe of the politician's pen, all gone in the blink of an eye in the name of profit.
Back in 05, the KIB heard there was going to be development of some sort of the old Railey site, being modern day political opportunists KIB placed a claim of right on the property. It sat empty for 30 years, yet KIB saw no opportunity to lay claim then.
However KIB lost its right to legally claim under the law of inaction, (they missed the deadline) Chief Shane Gotfriedson had just been sworn in as the Chief, he quickly made alliances with city hall. Terry saw this as a tool of which he and his pals with the agenda of TCC spewed on the taxpayers of Kamloops could use to their advantage. You see Terry and his bum buddies really really wanted to expand on TCC for bragging rights of the "biggest and best", self proclaiming themselves " tournament capital of Canada" based on the most money wasted.
Soon working in back rooms, Terry and Shane came up with a plan..."duh if we systematically destruct the KXA, it will force the city to have to build a new exhibition grounds." Shane responded with, "what do I get out of it" to which Terry said..."Duh, how about a section of the Railey property." to which Shane hopped up and down clapping his hands like a seal begging for fish. " AR AR, Oh Yah, I like it" replied Shane.
So they devised a plan, first they had to create a need,and by closing of the KXA exhibition building in 06 they created that need. A building located in the heart of the city, lots and lots of parking, the building was hosting something new every weekend, fulfilling the needs of community groups for 100 years. Like a butcher, they cut the heart of the community out and fed it to the dogs, that building should NEVER have been closed, it is one of the biggest losses to Kamloops citizens to have ever happened...all under the watchful eye of Terry Lake.
Shane Gotfreidson being an typical opportunist politician, plays the role of working for his people and building a partnership with the city of Kamloops and the province. At every public opportunity he brags about the great relationship he and is building and KIB has with the city and province. However when it came to renewing the lease of the KXA building, KIB buracrats didn't seem to care that the city would loose the anchor of our community, which brings into question their motives. Action speaks louder than words...some day politicians (even Native politicians) will learn this, their actions define them, not their speeches.
Mean while Terry and his bumbudies celebrated the closing of the building...now there was reason to push for the Railey development, no way provincial and federal governments could turn down their grants now!
However the process was moving to slow for them, so this year under "stay the course" Milobar, the city was forced out of the KXA grounds all together. After 100 years, the KXA association has been hit broad side out of the blue with a $200 000 tax bill. Talk about serving the needs of the community, hear the band say they want to be partners with the city, contribute, yet reality is, the only concern is for themselves...the proof is in their actions. They don't give two shits about the city... ..if they did they would work to fill the needs of the people and keep that wonderful centrally located with plenty of parking and cornerstone of the comunity, part of the community . The relationship between the people of Kamloops and the KIB has been eroding in the last few years due to these types of actions.
So now you understand the motive of KIB and the people in power @ city hall, there has to be a need, and by closing the KXA they have created that need to develop Railey and a need in the eyes of Government who hand out grants.
The problems with Railey are numerous, the obvious one is Railey is located 20 minutes out of town, every one and his dog will have to drive half way to hell and back, so much for going green. In a time when city hall dictates no subdividing in out lying areas based on pollution from travel, I find it shocking there are no concerns from them on their own pet project.
The other obvious concern is its a polluted ex-army base, The government couldn't afford to clean up its own mess, so they passed it on to the city, now it is the local tax payers responsibility to clean it up at a cost of millions..
Next problem is its been reported the Band is going to use Railey for log sorting, stirring up poisonous dust while kids are playing, and animals showing, not to mention the site is located directly adjacent to a bigger polluter, Tolko mill. 24/7/365 days a year, thick blue smoke fills the entire valley. Are you willing to allow your kids and animals in that cesspool?
The ground water is also contaminated, for years leaching lead and mercury into the river that lies next to the site, the site should have been cleaned up 60 years ago. However "out of site, out of mind" is their reasoning.
Water for consumption will have to be drawn from these pockets of poison. To top it all off, the property is also located on a flood plane, so God only knows when it will be under water.
typical political bullshit, politicians wielding their agenda's with out regard for the citizens.
I burned $10 000 in protest as KIB seaked contracting thow to inspect the homes of KIB, indeed it could have resulted in much more in spin off repairs and replacement appliances, there's no doubt.
Though I take a page from the professor of righteousness; MLK jr, (Martin Luther King Jr) taught me:

My friends, this is a perfect example, government tyranny and manipulation, even KIB manipulate their own people, time and time again, I have several friends who are members of KIB, I have heard from their lips to my ears that they suffer as well from manipulation as do we from our government. These new breed of so called leaders disgrace their elders in the aggressiveness and dishonor they do, this too I have heard from their lips to my ears. Though it isn't the fault of the new generation of Native leaders as they have been schooled in the latest political deception by our own system of ignorance, corruption, and power mongering. Indeed all for fathers are disgusted with the current degeneration of the generations of today's politicians who bend from the slightest wind of corporate greed.
For hear I am, I do not run nor hide, I challenge thee, to answer to the citizens needs, to put aside profit for the good of the community, To reinstate the old KXA building and grounds in the heart of the city for which it beats as the true heart of the needs of citizens, far and near, yours and mine, and if it can not be so, land adjacent or close by is to dedicate to the community of humanity. I do not say these words or take these action in hate, for it is the opposite, we are all brother and sisters , we need to become self aware of the actions we take against one another , change the course of corrupt ways, unite for what is right.
Update: jan 2011, Things have developed further, eroding away the respect of the community, countless leases have been torn up, business and people forced to move because of the high costs. The KXA has officially folded and closed its doors, despite using bribery of some equipment donated to the KXA to have if the KXA organization would peacefully and gleefully move out to the Raily sight miles out of town. Chief Shane Godfriedson continues to erode the positive relationship the Indian band and the people of Kamloops valued for so many years. Shane personally announced the immediate closure of the KXA camp grounds; at first demanding eviction with in days, much to the critisism of the public, shane changed his mind and stated; "in the spirit of Christmas" as he put it, the Band extended eviction notices to a month or two.
As many of you know, I have been in court due to challenging the ignorance and tyranny of government. Something that sticks out, is the majority of the deffendants are Native, time and time again it is sad to see, as I see them as the real victim, victim of the system of society, victims of the community who have grown to ignore and except the revolving doors of the courts that don't deal with Native needs and why they are there. Many times I hear individuals have no place to go, because they are lost in the society of drugs or alcohol, or violence,
Today's government system is revealing it's self to be full of fraud and deception, It is apparent that things haven't changed much in a couple of hundred years.... it appears the government still take advantage of Natives, by simply giving the Native people a few beads and trinkets, (house and job, materialism, lots of booze and now drugs too). Govern them by de facto laws, incorporate them so that it creates a vicious circle of self destruction. This leave the Native people week, and easy to be governed, controlled with in a political system.
I have been learning that we are just men and women; people.....not citizens...not persons....just flesh and blood men and women; people....though the government would have us believe other wise. And by admitting to what they call us, the government takes away the peoples rights, and freedoms. But when we get down to it, we are all just men and women, who are victims of their environment...who creates that environment.....who is responsible for that environment???? government!...corporations.....capitalism.
The way we as men and women convey to the government this is to claim sovereignty back as simple men and women...this takes away all presumptions, and puts us in charge of the government, instead of the other way around.
One of the things the movement is learning is; if there is anyone who has more right to claim sovereignty; its the native people of North America, for Native people are the ultimate sovereign people. Indeed native peoples in the movement are enjoying an advantage of being more excepted by the government as sovereigns because of this fact.

The current notion of state sovereignty is often traced back to the Treaty of Westphalia (1648), which, in relation to states, codified the basic principles of territorial integrity, border inviolability, and supremacy of the state (rather than the Church). A sovereign is the supreme lawmaking authority within its jurisdiction.[citation needed]
Something that becomes apparent is that no matter how much your hurting, how much pain and bullshit you have been through, there is someone out there who is a whole lot worse than you....and part of the healing process is to help those who are in worse shape than you, or your situation. It gives a person self worth, pride, and feeling that they can contribute to society. It also teaches people morals, to which the world seems to be lacking.
It would be refreshing to see troubled teens and natives who are seemingly lost beyond hope to go to third world countries on missionary trips to experience what life can really be like, and is like for a good number of people on earth....we here in Canada tend to take for granted what we have. By helping those most in need in the world, it builds a bond, a sense of self worth, compassion, a realization that no law or court could ever convey or order.
